Developmental edits — for big picture items
A read through of your manuscript assessing ‘big picture’ items. This is a full review of your manuscript’s action sequences, structure and style, flow and phrasing, and plot. This is ideally the first step in any edits and is far less single-minded than specialized edit types. It helps make sure that your plot is consistent and makes sense.
Copy edits — for the details
A read through of your manuscript assessing grammar, syntax and punctuation. I will check/correct grammar and syntax mistakes and spelling errors. I will make sure that your manuscript is consistent in terms of spelling, punctuation, fonts etc. As well as this, your manuscript will be checked for consistency in character traits and settings, and ambiguous or incorrect information (for information based on real world facts, or in-world facts that have been previously mentioned.)
Line edits — for help finding the right words
A read through of your manuscript assessing all word and sentence usage. I will check for run-on sentences, confusing narratives, overused words, unnatural dialogue and phrasing, repetitions, and other common writing/pacing problems. If needed, line edits can also help reduce or increase word-count (within reason) as required.
Sensitivity reads — for the biases you can’t see
A read through of your manuscript assessing all representation of specific minority groups that I have experience with/in. This will help make sure that your manuscript portrays these communities in a non- harmful, non-stereotypical way.

A read through of your manuscript checking for any final obvious spelling, punctuation and consistency errors. Proofreading is the final step in any manuscript editing, it is ideally done just before querying and/or publication.

A read through of your query letter, checking for punctuation and grammar mistakes, consistency and clarity. Agents want to have reasons to keep reading, and they want to know the answers to very specific questions, this query edit will help make sure that your query is as attention-catching as possible.
